A guided project with optional equipment

Plan a small robotics project with test cases and a clear safety boundary.

Original Kidemy beginner self-study unit · Learn the idea, try the practical activity and review your written answers. Review your project with a guardian or teacher using the criteria below. Teacher-led course approval and booking are separate.

Learn the idea

Define a mission, inputs, rules and success criteria. Begin with a paper model or simulation. If hardware is later used, a guardian or teacher should supervise age-appropriate low-voltage equipment; a child should not wire wall power. Explain the model’s limits when presenting the result.

Worked example

Mission: reach a collection square and stop. Tests: a clear route, an obstacle on the route and a start facing a different direction. Each test needs an expected outcome.

  1. Define the target and stopping rule.
  2. Test both a normal route and a changed condition.
  3. Present evidence and limits, not only a finished-looking model.

Try it step by step

This is a practice model. It does not change your Kidemy coins or school grades. Use the buttons to test one instruction at a time.

Your written practice

Show your working on paper and enter your answer here. If it does not match, compare the model and try again.

3

Clear route, obstacle and a changed facing direction.

Show model answer and explanation

no

Use paper or simulated work; any suitable low-voltage hardware needs supervision.

Write in your own words. A guardian or teacher should review this response.

Move a counter to the library square, then stop when it arrives.

Check a defined target and end condition.

Place a blocked square on the planned route and check whether the stop rule prevents entry.

Check one explicit changed condition and an expected outcome.

My tested robot mission

Make a paper or grid prototype. Show three tests, a change after feedback and one limitation of the model.

Review with a guardian or teacher
