Arabic letters and correct articulation

Recognise letters and begin articulation practice with a qualified teacher.

Original Kidemy beginner self-study unit · Learn the idea, try the practical activity and review your written answers. A qualified Quran teacher must review your reading and recitation. Teacher-led course approval and booking are separate.

Learn the idea

Quran reading begins with distinguishing letters and producing their sounds. Makhraj means the place from which a sound is articulated. Similar-looking or similar-sounding letters need careful comparison. A transliteration is an approximate aid and cannot represent every Arabic sound.

Worked example

ب, ت and ث differ in their dots. A teacher demonstrates the sounds separately. م is produced with the lips together, then used in a short modelled pattern.

  1. Compare shapes and dots before reading.
  2. Watch and listen to the teacher’s articulation model.
  3. Record one correction; do not treat a written quiz result as recitation approval.

Read and compare

Roman and Bangla guides are approximate aids. A qualified teacher should demonstrate the Arabic sounds and review your reading.
