Vocabulary and grammar in context

Choose vocabulary and grammar that fit the context.

Original Kidemy beginner self-study unit · Learn the idea, try the practical activity and review your written answers. Practise spoken delivery with a teacher or proficient listener. Teacher-led course approval and booking are separate.

Learn the idea

A precise word makes an idea easier to understand. Check whether a word describes a noun, an action or how an action happens. Verb forms should agree with the subject and the time of the sentence.

Worked example

“The careful girl writes carefully.” Careful describes the girl; carefully describes how she writes. “Yesterday she wrote a note” uses a past verb.

  1. Choose the word for the meaning you intend.
  2. Check who does the action and when.
  3. Read the completed sentence for sense.
