Learn the idea
Independent practice includes choosing a small goal, attempting a task, checking it and trying a new task that uses the same skill. A practice answer-key match is not a complete measure of spoken or written ability.
Worked example
Goal: use full stops. Attempt: write three sentences. Check: mark the sentence boundaries. Next task: write three different sentences and check them without looking at the model.
- Choose one skill you can name.
- Keep the first attempt so you can see what changed.
- Use feedback to choose a fresh task, not just memorise one answer.
