Plan and present a small project

Plan, test and present a small coding project.

Original Kidemy beginner self-study unit · Learn the idea, try the practical activity and review your written answers. Review your project with a guardian or teacher using the criteria below. Teacher-led course approval and booking are separate.

Learn the idea

A small project needs a purpose, inputs, rules, outputs and a way to test it. Start with one achievable feature before adding decoration. Keep a change log so you can explain how feedback improved the project. A paper prototype is useful when a coding tool is unavailable.

Worked example

Project: a number-doubling helper. Input: a whole number. Rule: multiply it by 2. Output: the doubled number. Tests: input 3 gives 6; input 0 gives 0; input 5 gives 10.

  1. Define what the user enters and what the project returns.
  2. Choose normal and edge cases such as zero.
  3. Present a demonstration and explain one change after testing.

Your written practice

Show your working on paper and enter your answer here. If it does not match, compare the model and try again.

For an adding helper: 2 and 3 give 5; 0 and 4 give 4.

Check the calculations independently and include a useful second case.
