Reading comprehension and inference

Separate an observation from a causal conclusion.

Original Kidemy Class 8 progression. This level has its own text, examples and questions. Curriculum versions share the progression; complete board-specific coverage still needs specification matching and additional material.

Learn the idea

A before-and-after difference can have more than one explanation. Identify what was measured, how groups were selected and which other conditions changed. A careful answer preserves the observation while limiting the conclusion.

Worked example

A club placed a poster by the library. Visits rose the following week, but a book fair also opened. The club counted entries, not reading time, and did not compare another week with similar events.

  1. Read the text and identify the purpose.
  2. Support your answer with a specific detail.
  3. Revise meaning, structure and accuracy.
