Learn the idea

Sentence transformation changes grammatical form while retaining the intended message. Passive voice changes focus; clauses can express conditions or contrast. Extended writing needs a position, reasons, a fair counterargument and a conclusion consistent with evidence.

Worked example

Active: The pupils planted the trees. Passive: The trees were planted by the pupils. “Although it rained, they continued” keeps the contrast between rain and continuation.

  1. Identify the original meaning and timeline.
  2. Change only the requested structure.
  3. Check agreement, punctuation and argument flow.
