About this lesson and its coverage

Original Model Test for Exam unit. These questions and suggested practice times are independent Kidemy material, not an official or past paper. Choose modules for the target programme; all listed subjects are not required for every applicant.

Learn the idea

Estimate before using a written method. Fractions need common-sized parts for addition. Decimals align by place value, not the final digit. In a story problem, name intermediate results so that the last calculation answers what was asked.

Worked example

A 2.5 m ribbon loses 0.75 m: 2.50−0.75 = 1.75 m. For fractions, 1/2 + 1/4 = 2/4 + 1/4 = 3/4.

  1. Estimate and select operations.
  2. Show place-value or fraction steps.
  3. Check with inverse operations.
