Grammar, sentence structure and editing

Control subordination and nominalisation without hiding the actor.

Original Kidemy Class 11 progression. This level has its own text, examples and questions. Curriculum versions share the progression; complete board-specific coverage still needs specification matching and additional material.

Learn the idea

Subordination shows a logical relationship between clauses. Nominalisation turns a process into a noun, which can condense prose but obscure who acted. Choose the form serving clarity and emphasis, not a rule that longer words are more academic.

Worked example

“The panel rejected the proposal” identifies an actor. “The rejection of the proposal occurred” foregrounds the event but hides who rejected it.

  1. Read the text and identify the purpose.
  2. Support your answer with a specific detail.
  3. Revise meaning, structure and accuracy.
