Vocabulary and language in context

Explain connotations and choose precise context words.

Original Kidemy Class 7 progression. This level has its own text, examples and questions. Curriculum versions share the progression; complete board-specific coverage still needs specification matching and additional material.

Learn the idea

Words can share a broad meaning but carry different attitudes. “Confident” is usually more approving than “arrogant”. A suffix can turn an adjective into another word class, but not every imagined combination is a standard word.

Worked example

The guide called the old house “cosy”; the visitor called it “cramped”. Both refer to limited space, but their evaluations differ.

  1. Read the text and identify the purpose.
  2. Support your answer with a specific detail.
  3. Revise meaning, structure and accuracy.
