Paragraphs, essays and functional writing

Develop one main idea and write a clear everyday message.

Original Kidemy Class 6 progression. This level has its own text, examples and questions. Curriculum versions share the progression; complete board-specific coverage still needs specification matching and additional material.

Learn the idea

A paragraph should develop a topic rather than repeat the same sentence. A message needs the information its reader must act on: who, what, when and where when relevant. Do not add unnecessary personal details.

Worked example

Message: Our reading group meets in the library at 3 pm on Thursday. Please bring the borrowed book. The time, place and action are explicit.

  1. Read the text and identify the purpose.
  2. Support your answer with a specific detail.
  3. Revise meaning, structure and accuracy.
