Reading comprehension and inference

Find a detail, explain an inference and distinguish what remains unknown.

Original Kidemy Class 6 progression. This level has its own text, examples and questions. Curriculum versions share the progression; complete board-specific coverage still needs specification matching and additional material.

Learn the idea

An inference links a detail to a reasonable explanation. It should not turn a possible reason into a stated fact. Read pronouns back to the people they refer to, then answer the exact question.

Worked example

Mina reached the classroom early. A small key lay beside the door. Instead of trying it in every lock, she gave it to the caretaker. At break, a teacher thanked her and collected the key.

  1. Read the text and identify the purpose.
  2. Support your answer with a specific detail.
  3. Revise meaning, structure and accuracy.
