Learn the idea

Use place value for operations and factors for exact grouping. The least common multiple is the smallest positive number in both multiple lists.

Worked example

For 8 and 12, the least common multiple is 24. Their greatest common factor is 4.

  1. Read the example and explain which rule or evidence it uses.
  2. Try each task yourself, then compare the answer and its reason.
