Learn the idea

A solid keeps its own shape. A liquid takes its container's shape but has a definite volume. A gas spreads to fill the available space.

Worked example

A stone is solid, water in a cup is liquid, and air is a mixture of gases.

  1. Read the example and explain which rule or evidence it uses.
  2. Try each task yourself, then compare the answer and its reason.
