Learn the idea

Read what is bought, how many are bought and how much is paid. Write each step with its unit. Change is money paid minus the total cost.

Worked example

Two pencils cost Tk 8 each. Total cost = 2 × 8 = Tk 16. Pay Tk 20: change = 20 − 16 = Tk 4.

  1. Do not subtract the cost of only one pencil.
  2. Check: the cost plus the change equals the money paid.
